Digital animation

Computer animation, is the process used for generating animated images. It encompasses only moving images generated by the computer.

The above annimation is achieved with an ‘AnnimateGif’ software. The moving image comprises of only 7 frames thus producing a rather jerky motion.

You can get a much smoother run by writing a computer code for it. Click here and use the “back arrow” to come back to this page.

Modern computer animation uses 3D computer graphics, although 2D computer graphics are still used for stylistic, low bandwidth, and faster real-time display.

Computer animation is essentially a digital successor to the stop motion techniques used in traditional animation with 3D models and frame-by-frame animation of 2D illustrations.

Computer-generated animations are more controllable than other more physically based processes like constructing miniatures for effects shots and hiring extras for crowd scenes. Furthermore, computer-generated animations allow the creation of images that would not be possible using any other technology.

Click here to watch the billiard ball bouncing off the sides of the billiard table indefinitely. This is achieved via digital automation. Use the back arrow to return to this page.

Computer-generated animations will allow a single graphic artist to produce such content even thought it is time consuming. To create the illusion of movement, an image is displayed on the computer monitor and repeatedly replaced by a new image that is similar to it, but advanced slightly in time which is identical to how the illusion of movement is achieved with television and motion pictures.

Annimation can cause color changes, moving objects horizontally or vertically or diagonally. Click here to see this aspect of animation.
